Hurricane and Wind Protection for Florida Property
On the Treasure Coast, windstorm is the coverage your whole policy is built around. Hurricane deductibles work as a percentage rather than a flat dollar amount, which means the number that matters is not on the first page of your declarations. HBK Insurance Group reviews windstorm coverage, deductibles and mitigation credits so you know your real exposure before a storm is named.

Your Hurricane Deductible Is a Percentage
A two percent hurricane deductible on a $600,000 dwelling is $12,000 out of pocket before coverage responds — a very different number than the $2,500 all-other-perils deductible on the same policy. Most homeowners have never done that arithmetic. It is the first thing we do together.
Mitigation Credits Are Money Already Earned
Hip roofs, secondary water resistance, roof-to-wall attachments and impact-rated openings all generate credits, but only when documented on a current inspection form and filed with the carrier. If you have upgraded and never re-inspected, you are likely paying for protection you already installed.
Common Questions
Is windstorm included in my homeowners policy?
Usually, though it may be excluded and written separately, particularly on coastal and older properties. Check which you have — the answer changes what you owe after a storm.
Does windstorm cover flood or storm surge?
No. Wind and water are separate perils with separate policies, and surge is flood. Carrying one without the other is the most common coastal coverage gap.
Can I lower my hurricane deductible?
Sometimes, at a higher premium. It is a trade worth pricing rather than accepting by default.
